Free Screening for Women’s Cancer on Sat 7 & Sun 8 March 2020
(Rs 2000 worth screening tests free for the pre-registered)
Why Get Screened?
Breast and ovarian cancers, the two inter-related diseases, are more common in India than the rest of the world.
The number of deaths in India are much higher due to late diagnosis of these two cancers because Indian women don’t screen themselves regularly. If 100 new cases of breast and ovarian cancers are detected, 50 will die in India, only 19 in the US and 25 in China.
Goa is the women’s cancer capital of India owing to late marriage, delayed childbearing, unhealthy lifestyle, etc. Breast cancer prevalence in Goan women is much higher than the national average according to some studies. Also, middle-income and high-income groups show more prevalence of breast and ovarian cancers compared to low-income groups.
Are Breast & Ovarian Cancers Curable?
When detected early, both these cancers are highly curable. That is why screening is important.
Who Should Get Screened?
We urge all women above 35 years, and the younger in case of family history of breast or ovarian cancer to make some time to screen themselves.
